Horasis convened the 2016 Horasis Global Meeting in Liverpool on 13-14 June. The event was part of the International Festival of Business, a series of global business events held in Liverpool to celebrate entrepreneurship and economic growth. The annual Horasis Global Meeting is one of the world’s foremost gatherings of business leaders who interact with key government officials and eminent thought leaders. The meeting’s purpose is to advance solutions to the most critical challenges facing corporations today.

Under the theme ‘Visions for Tomorrow – from Uncertainty to Confidence’, participants shared insights on the current state of the world and identified visions to build confidence enabling decisive progress towards a richer society. George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, United Kingdom, presented the opening address. A special panel with F.W. de Klerk, Former President of South Africa focused on the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate’s unique contribution to world history in initiating, leading and then handing on power in what could be termed Africa’s first Velvet Revolution. Attending were several key Ministers and civic leaders, professors from world-leading universities and more than 300 chief executives of globe-spanning businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators.

As appointed Professional Conference Organiser Happening was responsible for liaising and set up of the venues, appointment of all third party suppliers including AV, video production, staging, catering etc, sending invites and RSVP’s, on-site management, monitoring registration, producing regular update reports, programme and speaker management, co–ordination and printing of all event materials.   Happening was also responsible for liaising with invited speakers travel and accommodation requirements.

The Conference was held in the Exhibition Centre Liverpool, a state-of-the-art, 8100m2 purpose-built exhibition centre.  The plenary sessions took place in the India Suite with parallel sessions taking place in neighbouring rooms. The Horasis Global Meeting officially opened the IFB2016 Festival co-hosted by Liverpool Visions with a Welcome Reception held in the Blue Skies theatre within the Exhibition centre accompanied by the Chinese Youth Orchestra. This was followed by a Gala Dinner with background music provided by the Liverpool Philharmonic quartet. After a second full twelve hour day of conference sessions, Happening staff then escorted all delegates onto awaiting coaches taking them to the closing dinner at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool in the Rum Warehouse. Guests were treated to a gala dinner with a string quartet and then a nightcap overlooking the Stanley Dock viewed via the spectacular floor to ceiling glazing.

The Global Meeting ended on the third day were delegates were treated to a Magical Mystery Tour of Liverpool enjoying the sights and sounds of The Beatles as well as viewing the tremendous regeneration of the city.

Happening sourced a number of third party suppliers for the event and worked closely with those who demonstrated the best service, standards and value for money.  Happening ensured that that all contractual requirements were defined and recorded from the outset.

With the theme of the festival being the Global Market place the exhibition hall was subdivided into different rooms aptly named after different countries. The main plenary room was the China suite which was set cabaret style to accommodate 300 delegates. The second largest suite was the India suite which was subdivided into a parallel room and catering area providing an opportunity for delegates to network and discuss the sessions.

A budget was created and maintained by Happening throughout the contract ensuring that all aspects of the conference were included.  The budget was clearly laid out with different sections and subsections, this made it easy to understand and modify if needed.  The budget was updated and monitored continually and any changes made were communicated to the committee immediately.
