Case Study – International Symposium of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology

The 17th International Symposium on Pediatric Neuro-Oncology

ISPNO is the major biennial global meeting of the multi-disciplinary international community of professionals involved in the scientific research, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation of infants, children and young people with Central Nervous System tumors. This symposium was held in Liverpool, this was ISPNO’s second time being hosted in the UK and was held from the 12th – 15th June 2016.

Happening in liaison with the local organising committee (LOC), chaired by Prof. Barry Pizer and the international organising committee (IOC), chaired by Roger Packer pulled together a truly international event. ISPNO attracted 1148 delegates from over 58 countries over four days. Management of sponsors and delegates was handled by Happening, with a total sponsorship and exhibition revenue of £320,000.000.

Happening managed the marketing and development of the programme for ISPNO, as well as abstract submissions. A comprehensive and entertaining social programme was developed for delegates and accompanying persons to maximise their time in Liverpool. This included a welcome reception, a choice of two venues for delegates to choose on the second evening and finishing with the gala dinner on the final night. The accompanying persons programme included additional events throughout the days including a cultural walking tour of UNESCO Heritage Site & St Georges Quarter in addition to a coach tour to Chester including a walking tour of the area.

Happening was heavily involved in the planning and organising of ISPNO 2016  from conception to project consolidation after the event has finished.

“Personally I have enjoyed and gained a great deal from this meeting and it was wonderful working with Happening, a truly professional, enthusiastic and dedicated team that I will not hesitate recommending or working with in the future.”
